Last year we announced that we were in the process of establishing a Research Advisory Board containing advisers as members from all across the country.
We have now appointed an independent chair and representatives from Northern, Central and Southern New Zealand and hosted our first meeting of the Northern group on Tuesday, 28 February in Auckland. Advisers can provide a special insight into the research process and have several ways in which they bring perspective, operating at arms-length to those creating new insurance products, advisers see competing products operate in the real world in claims situations, and always provide frank feedback about benefits and how we research them!
We already have a high level of review and transparency around our research decisions, with detailed engagement processes and a widely shared research database regularly reviewed by insurers. We aim to achieve a greater level of independent oversight for our research process with our new Research advisory board.
